Tips and Tricks for Second Semester

Tips and Tricks for Second Semester

It’s that time of the year again! Second semester is almost upon us. Soon, the second quarter, also known as the longest quarter ever (seriously, November feels like it was a whole different year) will end along with all of our sufferings. To celebrate, the String has compiled tips and tricks for the second half of the year, by grade. With these tips and tricks for second semester, surviving the last half of the 2016-2017 school year will be a breeze.

Seniors

It is your last semester of high school. Perhaps you know what college you are going to next year already, or have at least applied to all of your schools. Make sure to enjoy every moment of these last few months by doing the things you have always wanted. You will find that you learn more this way.

Juniors

This is it. It is your last full calendar year of high school. You only have to get through six more quarters, and then off to the real world! To celebrate this, become as unmotivated as possible. Queue up your Buzzfeed quizzes and String articles to waste time on (we know you have that “Great Gastby” imitation essay due tomorrow morning).

Don’t fret about your junior year grades. Colleges will appreciate your realistic grades. Think about it this way- admission readers will be able to pick you out of the crowd more easily than someone who has good grades, like most of their applicants.

Sophomores

You’re finally not a freshman anymore, but you are still young. You’re now use to the ways of West Po. Now, you are probably thinking what the easiest way out high school is and the easiest classes to pass.

Teachers know your reputations now so don’t be afraid to say what you want. If you didn’t do anything this semester, feel free to complain about your Fs. Every teacher knows that sophomore year is the hardest (or was that junior year?) so they will cut you some slack.

Freshman
It might feel bad to be a freshman, but look at it this way— you are almost done with your first year of high school. While that might not seem like a big feat, celebrate. Soon, you will no longer be the youngest.
