West Potomac’s staff is filled with incredible women doing their jobs with passion and effort every day, and now is the time to recognize them. In honor of Women’s History Month, the Wire will be posting a feature of an influential woman at West Potomac every week of March.

Cheryl Langford is the health room aide at West Potomac and has been working here for five and a half years. Before being a health room aide, she worked as a case manager for individuals with mental disabilities in Kentucky for 10 years.

“I’m from Alexandria and I missed the area,” Langford said. “It was time for a change.”

West Potomac is filled with influential women. Langford expressed that Administrative Assistant Roselyn Guevara has had a huge personal impact on her.

“She has no problem coming to help me out around the clinic or fill in for me when I’m not here,” Langford said. “We have each other’s back.”

Helping out a friend or a peer is a crucial part of the West Potomac community, especially in the clinic. The clinic is often flooded with numerous students seeking medical attention.

Langford states that this is one of her challenges working alone in the clinic.

“No one can be in two place at once, but everyone works together as a team so I know I’m not actually alone in the school,” Langford said.

While gender inequality is an issue people all around the world face, Langford makes it clear that it is not an issue at West Potomac.

“Everyone on staff is very accepting no matter who you are,” she said.

Langford is a truly important and influential woman at West Potomac, and everything she does is greatly appreciated.
