This Saturday, hundreds of West Po students will make their way to the Torpedo Factory for an unforgettable night. From 8-11 pm, juniors and seniors will be dancing, socializing, and just having fun in general. The Torpedo Factory will be decorated head-to-toe according to the “Casino Royale” theme that students voted on. In January, students got to vote for their favorite theme, and chose from others such as “Great Gatsby”, “Old Hollywood” and “Big City Bright Lights”.
Although the high price may seem like a roll of the dice, it’s guaranteed that students will have a great time at prom. Tickets can be purchased in the cafeteria or on My School Bucks. However, physical tickets must be picked up on Friday only in the cafeteria. Guest forms are due on Thursday. Prom itself is funded in part by the Class of 2026’s fundraising efforts throughout freshman and sophomore year; however, most of the funds come from the prom tickets themselves.
Nominations for prom royalty will be open until Friday, where the winners will be crowned at prom. The nomination form can be found in All Students on Schoology. The final voting of the nominated royalty will happen on Saturday, and the two candidates from each class that secure the most votes will become prom royalty.
SGA Class of 2026 is in charge of organizing this year’s prom. “I’ve been preparing for prom for over a year,” 2026 SGA Class President Nora Wild says. “We have to rent the venue, DJs, photo booth, and catering. So, you have to do a lot of contacting people and renting things.”
When asked about how she feels about the upcoming prom dance, junior Alex Pastor says, “I’m most excited to be with my friends and to take photos. It’s my first prom and it’s exciting because everyone talks about how it’s such a big part of the high school experience.”
