As the school day neared its end, Principal Jessica Statz announced over the speakers that the weapons detections system will be returning to West Po for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. Starting May 1, students must enter through doors 1 or 19 to pass through the system. It is important to note that unlike Thursday, door 5 will no longer be an available entrance. Students will have to take out laptops when going through the system. It is likely that lines will be even longer than on Thursday due to the reduced open entrances. It is unclear whether there will continue to be increased security throughout the school day.
“Keep this in mind when you are planning your arrival to school and make sure you plan to get to your first class on time,” Principal Statz advised.
