It was a warm and sunburn-could-stick-with-you-for-days sunny day this past May at the 2nd Annual Waynewoodstock at the Waynewood Recreation Center Park. The storm the day before that had knocked out the neighborhood’s entire power grid, but the generators were up and running to power the soundsystem and the fancy new stage that would showcase the main acts.
A crowd started forming early around the bouncy castle and bubble machine for the little kids, artisans at the back selling their wares, and food trucks and fresh-cooked burgers for anyone who needed something to eat.
The bands on the main stage–Rachel’s Decision (formerly Nepenthe), Borrowed Players, Disco Spears, Porch Pirates, mid– and on the Octopus Stage–Lydia Grace (West Po student), 456 & Friends and Los Trio, helped the crowd to their feet and got them swaying. Everyone earned applause after each song.
