Football Warms Up at West Po

The West Potomac Football team will take the field for the first time on Friday, August 27 in a scrimmage against McLean High School. The game will be taking place in McLean and offers one of the first opportunities to see the system that new Head Coach Chadwick Louisville has put into place. He was most recently an assistant coach at Mt. Vernon, but he has also been an assistant coach at West Po in the past. The team is coming off a losing record—2-4 regular season, 3-4 with a postseason victory—last year and will be trying to turn that around in a brand new district.

Formerly of the Gunston District, West Po is now part of the Patriot District. West Po is one of two Gunston District teams moving over, the other being Alexandria City—formerly T.C. Williams. The other 5 teams in the Patriot District are: Woodson, Lake Braddock, West Springfield, Robinson, and South County. Mt. Vernon, Annandale, and Hayfield are staying together in another district. However, West Po will still be playing Mt. Vernon in a one-off rivalry game out of district on September 24.
