Nutcracker Returns to West Po for First Time in Years
Ring in the holiday season by stopping by the 14th annual Alexandria Community Nutcracker, which is being held right here at West Po for the first time in several years. The show, presented by ArtSpire VA, blends the classical ballet of the Nutcracker with elements of hip-hop, jazz, and gymnastics. It features a diverse group of dancers from ages 4-18 from a variety of schools, including some West Po Academy Dancers. The West Potomac Orchestra will also be there premiering the piece “Christmas With the Nutcracker,” which was commissioned for the event by former FCPS teacher Katie O’Hara LaBrie.
When asked about being in her first nutcracker performance, our own editor-in-chief Phoebe Schultz responded, “I’m super excited, and it’s been great to bond with all my high school friends who are on the dance team.”
Showtimes will begin on Thursday, December 1, and will run until Saturday, December 3. Tickets sold at the door are $18, but online advance tickets are $15 and can be purchased with this link here.
