West Potomac Boys Basketball Prepares to Open Postseason Play
West Potomac Boys Basketball opens postseason play tonight with a home matchup against conference rival Woodson, the latter end of a home double-header as the girls host Fairfax tonight at 6:00 PM. The boys enter postseason play having won ten of their last twelve, adding up to a regular season tally of thirteen wins and eight losses. Senior Forward Savion Gowder added some impressive accolades to his name in his first year on the varsity team, earning both all-district first team and all-district defensive team honors.
A three point road victory over Woodson last Saturday put the team above the threshold for the fourth seed in the conference, granting them rights to home court in the first round of the playoffs. As mentioned before, the boys will again meet Woodson tonight, who enter the district playoffs as the fifth seed. The Wolverines swept the season series with the Cavaliers, boasting two wins by a combined four points.
