Manchester City Complete Treble After 1-0 Win Over Inter Milan
Last Saturday, Manchester City successfully conquered Inter Milan and took the 2022-23 Champions League to a tense game over a goal by Rodrigo in minute 68.
Not only did they win a treble this season they won the Premier League, FA Cup, and now have their first UCL.
Some students are happy with the results. “I like Manchester City because I really like Haaland. He’s one of my favorite players at the moment,” Junior William Campos said.
The highly anticipated game began with Inter playing heavy defense with the 3-5-2 formation with Džeko and Lautaro playing forward. Man City gets close to Inter’s side of the field but can’t seem to break the defense that they bring to this match. Bernardo Silva who previously scored a haul against the 14 UCL winner Real Madrid shoots to possibly score but misses the goal. Haaland hasn’t gotten goals since playing Bayern in the semis, comes through from a pass and shoots a deadly shot but is blocked by Onana’s left hand.
During the second half of the game, Lautaro gets the chance to make it 0-1 but instead of passing it to Lukaku decides to shoot from the left side and gets blocked by Ederson. The ball gets passed to Akanji where he passes to Bernardo where he can’t seem to catch up is nearly out when he shoots it to the middle left where Man City calls for a ref and Inter is confused and when all of Inter is confused Rodrigo comes from the middle and scores the first goal of the game that passes by Darmian and Çalhanoğlu. Rodrigo is later named the man of the match for the game.
With Man City leading the final with a goal Inter pushes through City and Brozović kicks it and Çalhanoğlu headers it and Dumfries as well and with Dimarco header hitting post and comes back to him to let another header out but is blocked by their own teammate Lukaku. After receiving criticism from Inter fans, Lukaku tries to make up for it by shooting it from middle right and is caught by Ederson again. Robin Gosens headers it and plays into Lukaku headering it but Ederson’s knee is there to block it. Dimarco shoots from the middle far right and a header from Ruben Dias sends it to Barella where he shoots but just goes above the goal. The last few seconds of the match is a corner by Dimarco and Gosens headers it and one of the closest goals of the game gets blocked by Ederson and Brozovic does everything he can to prevent it from getting out and the game ends with Man City winning 1-0.
“I’m glad I got to see Julian Alvarez win a UCL for the first time.” Junior Franklin Funes said.
Why is this Champions League final different from other finals? Manchester City is the 10th European country to win their domestic league, top domestic cup, and european cup. Pep Guardiola while managing Man City today also trebled with Barcelona back in 2009.
