As the Class of 2024 submits applications for various colleges, some students already know where they’re heading for the next four years.
There are currently seven student-athletes expected to sign to continue to play their sport in college. Female athletes committed are Emory Grace Reed (George Mason // lacrosse), Kate Hardy (UMass Lowell // softball), Logan Jackson (Richmond // soccer) Jessica Larkin (Army // lacrosse), Avery Olson (UNC Charlotte // lacrosse), Jessica Vasquex-Luna (UConn // Crew); and male athletes committed are Jackson Baker (Salisbury // baseball), and John Colligan (Ball State // baseball) have all decided to take their talents to their respective colleges and universities.
John Colligan, the starting shortstop for West Potomac, announced his commitment to Ball State this past summer. After watching and dreaming about playing college baseball as a kid, he knew late freshman year that was what he wanted to do. The dream finally came true and he announced his commitment via social media late June.
“It relieved a lot of stress on my shoulders, and only having to do one application was pretty nice.” Colligan says.
The wolverines expect big things on the diamond this upcoming spring, even after losing 11 seniors, where five went on to play baseball at the next level.
“I expect us to win districts this year, and make a deep run in the state playoffs where we end up in a dogpile,” Colligan stated.
These athletes going Division I and Division II in their sports have signed their NLI letter, which binds them to their respective institutions. This signing ceremony was on November 8th at 3:30pm in the auditorium.
