Every year the two varsity lacrosse teams play each other for the One Love mission. On the third of May, this game took place. For this game, the boys and girls lacrosse team switch sticks and play each other. The purpose of the game is to support the One Love Foundation. Their mission is to educate people about healthy and unhealthy relationships and how to avoid abuse in relationships.
The One Love Club at West Potomac is a strong program that has a dedication game each season. Many students each year look forward to helping out with the club and all the service they do. There is a dedication game for football, basketball, and lacrosse each year. At every One Love dedicated event, the students a part of the club try their best to encourage everyone to wear their One Love shirts and if people don’t have one they offer to sell them for 10 dollars.
“It was really entertaining to watch and everyone looked like they were having a good time,” Freshman Clara Lozar stated.
For the lacrosse game on Friday, admission was free and the game started at 6:00 PM. The concession stands were open and selling not only food, but customized lacrosse shirts designed by the lacrosse team. At the game, many students showed appreciation by showing up and wearing their shirts. They played 4 quarters lasting 10 minutes each. The game ended in a tie 7 to 7 and was a huge success. The event was mainly run by the two teams themselves with support from adults involved with the lacrosse program along with parents.
