With a new school year, many new changes have arrived. One of the most important changes that principal Statz has introduced is the altercations to advisory. Last year, everyone remained in their advisory for the entire 90 minutes, but this year, the return period will be reintroduced.
Students will stay in their advisory class for 30 minutes before switching into one of their other classes for the remainder of the period. The class each student goes to is a cycle between periods from first to eighth, repeating after hitting eighth. This can be worrisome for many students who used wolverine support time to get them caught up on work.
Akram Arif, Sophomore says “Return period coming back is not good for me because last year I went to Mr. Franco’s every advisory and I wouldn’t have been able to pass his class without going during advisory.”
Most students use the time to get work finished, but once they are done with it the rest of the time is free. With the reintroduction of return period, students will have less time to work on assignments outside of class.
Mr Fitzgerald, French teacher said “The benefit is that I can see students that I need who wouldn’t come to support time. The downside is that I have a French honors society, and we used to meet during support time sometimes, and now we can’t meet during that period and had to move those meetings to after school.”
