Mr. Minh Huynh is one of the many adored teachers here at West Potomac High School. Mr. Minh has worked at West Potomac for 11 years as a math teacher, he has taught 9th grade pre algebra all the way up to 12th grade calculus. He attended George Mason University for electrical engineering degree and later on went back to get a masters degree in education.
His dream was to be an engineer, but found he didn’t enjoy it like he thought he would. He thought he’d be able to enjoy things like building robots, but he soon realized that engineering wasn’t all about that and decided to change paths after his 5th year in college. “I would’ve hated my job,” Mr. Minh said had he stayed an engineer.
His passion for teaching came from being a leader to others and teaching them taekwondo and martial art as a black belt. In college he worked as a sub at a variety of different schools.
As far as education goes, he likes to teach math; there is no lesson he dislikes teaching. In his many years of teaching he has noticed that some people need more time with him to build a relationship as that’s what it takes to be a good teacher.
Not only does Mr. Minh enjoy teaching math, he also has hobbies outside of school.
“I like to play a lot of video games and watch anime,” he said.
