Last night West Potomac Girls Basketball defeated South County 41-39 in the Regional semi-finals on a last second shot by junior, Abby Beddis, to advance to tonight’s game against Robinson that will be played at Hayfield Secondary School at 6:00 p.m.
West Po previously beat Robinson in their last game of the regular season 54-42 but also lost earlier in the season to Robinson. This makes tonight’s game a highly anticipated and competitive match-up with both teams having multiple players receiving district honors including West Po’s Olivia Jones and Dawn Houston being named First Team All-District. Robinson also has highly talented players that received district honors including Georgia Simonsen who was named Co-District Player of The Year and First Team All-District and Madison Coutinho who was also named to the First Team All-District.
The first 100 students to show up to Hayfield for tonight’s game will get in free thanks to contributions from the Wolverine Athletic Booster Club. In order to get in free students must bring their West Po ID and arrive before the game’s 6:00 p.m. tipoff. The Booster club encourages students to show up in support of the teams chance at a Regional Championship.
