What started as a gift of cherry trees from Japan in 1912 has now become a huge celebration for people throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. This year most ‘peak bloom’ predictions are between March 23rd to April 3rd according to National Park Service, the Washington Post and NBC Storm Team 4.
Spring is a jam-packed time for residents throughout the DMV, events like parades, pink-tie parties, kite festivals, ceremonies, pedalpalooza, and so much more.
The opening ceremony is Saturday, March 22, from 5-6:30, the Kite Festival is Saturday, March 29, from 10am-4pm, PetalPalooza is Saturday, April 5, 1-9pm and the final Parade is Saturday, April 12 at 10am-12pm. Sienna Karsadi, a freshman at West Po visited the Cherry Blossoms in 2024.

“I really enjoyed going to see the flowers, not because they were really pretty but because the environment is really fun and I was glad to be a part of it,” Sienna Karsadi, freshman explained.
