International Night, an evening full of dancing, singing, and cultural performances, will be held at West Po in the auditorium located in Spring Bank on Feb. 28, starting at 5pm. Food and entertainment will begin to be available around 6:30pm. Students, family, and community members from all backgrounds are encouraged to attend.
Students can sign up on Schoology to perform at International Night using the link on the All-Student page. International Night allows many students the opportunity to express themselves in a way that can be both entertaining and informative to students and families.
The Black Student Union (BSU) has been working in tandem with other cultural clubs on the event. They have posted ads with QR codes around the school to help students find information, or students can visit the BSU Schoology page to find more information on International Night and the club.
Even though the name Black Student Union may be misleading, anyone can come and support the club. Ms. Shari Terry, physics teacher and club sponsor, said, “If you ever take the time and you come to a meeting of Black Student Union, you’ll see many different shades of people, and that’s what it’s all about.”
Ian Bradshaw, senior, a member of BSU said, “BSU gives students a space where they can feel included, and not be judged, and truly be themselves…”
Students from groups such as Habesha Student Association and many others perform in the event, too.
The entry fee for International Night is a canned good, so students should plan on bringing one at minimum, but more donations are highly encouraged.
