Junior Varsity forward Cameron Bellamy, sophomore, has been playing soccer all his life and hopes for a great season for West Po Soccer.
He plans a continuation of his efforts from last season and expects the team to find success, “I want to make it to regional finals and win regional and hopefully make it to state. I want to have fun along the way as well.”
Bellamy calls the West Po squad a sleeper “Last year we had a nationally ranked player on the roster, but this year, we play better as a team. We had talent last year but not a team. This year, everyone knows everyone. We’ve been putting in the work. I’ve seen it. I know that’s going to make us different in the playoffs when competing against other teams,” he said.
Bellamy said he looks forward to facing local rivals Mt. Vernon as well as facing St. Louis as they will be the team’s “biggest test” as St. Louis is known to be a powerhouse in the area.
Those games will demonstrate where West Po is as a program, and Bellamy believes they can hold their own.
Bellamy has been sharpening his skills, focusing on finishing and passing to make a bigger impact. He hopes his extra work pays off in key moments.
He also values team chemistry, believing their strong bond will set them apart. “We’ve built a connection on and off the field, and that can take us far,” he said.
“We’re ready to show what we got.”
