It’s around that time of year where highschoolers are having to pick and choose the classes they would like to take next year. Rising 12th graders pick classes Jan. 20-Feb. 6, rising 11th graders pick classes Feb. 9-Feb. 20 and rising 10th graders pick classes Feb. 24- Mar. 6.
“I’m thinking of taking AP Pre-Calculus, AP world, Chemistry honors, AP seminar, French 2 and band. I also wanna take P.E over the summer so I can free up an elective and take art journaling or criminal justice,” said rising sophomore Lexi Bodendorf.
In just a couple weeks, students will begin meeting with their counselors to lock in the classes they want to take. While some students are still thinking about what they want to take, some are already applying to Academy classes along with Leadership.
Rising sophomore, Alex Leth says, “I applied to Leadership because it looks really fun. I want to be more involved in the school, and people have told me leadership is a great way to start.”
Students who are about to be Seniors are using this time to think about what will help them in college. A lot of the classes here at West Po can help set up students for a bright future. West Po offers electives that can be beneficial for certain degrees.
“I picked AP Psych and Criminal Justice because they are closest to the career I’m looking at. I also am taking two D.E. classes because it will look good on my college applications,” said rising Junior Hayden Tipton.
