West Potomac meets the 8-1 Robinson Rams tonight in a Senior Night matchup under the lights. Emotions will be high, but the stakes will be higher: with a win tonight, the Wolverines will clinch their second consecutive state tournament berth–with a loss, the team’s postseason status will fall into the fate of tiebreakers. Robinson comes into tonight’s game off their first loss of the season last week, falling at home to the Patriot District Champion Fairfax Lions 20-10.

“It’s a lot of stress,” said senior Charlie Armstrong. “We wanna make the playoffs so we can keep playing, but it is really sad thinking about this potentially being our last game.”

Senior Linebacker Matthew Barrett offered comment on how a season full of highs and lows has led to the point the team stands now, he is content, but also confident. “I think we can beat them (Robinson Rams),” said Barrett. “It’s sad that football season is coming to an end, cause this is my favorite sport, but at the same time, I’m glad that it’s ending because I know I’ve done all I need to do.”

Feeling hopeful, senior Parker Buchanan added, “I think we’re gonna win tonight. It’s my senior night, so I wanna go out with a W.”
