Peter and The Starcatcher, West Potomac Theatre Department’s fall play concluded last weekend after two weeks of shows. The first play under new theater head, Omar Cruz, Peter and The Starcatcher was a comedy-filled watch, fit for the whole family. Led by Sophomore Sunny Call as Peter Pan, Junior Ema Sallah-Carter as Molly, and Senior Antonio Amaral as Captain Hook, Peter and The Starcatcher revealed the backstory to all of your Neverland favorites. The two-and-a-half hour long show sent you on a fantasy adventure from Great Britain to the Island of Neverland, as Lord Aster, played by Myles Earley, and his daughter Molly look to protect coveted “star stuff” from evil.

The show was highlighted by brave stunts and phenomenal production from West Potomac’s student theater tech crew. Most notably, in the final scene before intermission, Peter jumps ship into the ocean below as real bubbles rained from the roof into the seats. The 4D-like experience placed the audience in the middle of a deep sea rescue mission after a sinking ship leaves the characters in a swim for their lives.

As the last of the fall leaves trickle down, West Po Theatre now looks onto their winter show, a musical special titled As You Like It, currently aiming for opening in late February 2023.
