Ms. Pavanne Veltman teaches Spanish II and III for grades 9-12. She has been teaching for 10 years, the past 3 being at West Potomac.
Ms. Veltman lived in the Netherlands before coming to the U.S., and she began teaching here because of her sister. “My sister is a teacher here, so I came here as a substitute, and then I just loved all the kids, and it was fun.”
Aside from teaching, she is a writer and a spiritual life coach. She has also taught cooking in the past. She also has a goal in her writing career.
“One of my goals for this year is for my new book to be a bestseller.”
Something Ms. Veltman would teach if she didn’t choose Spanish would be drama, or do a cooking class again.
“Well, if I had to, I would love to teach drama.”
Ms. Veltman enjoys teaching because of the kids, and she mentions the hardest part about teaching is, “kids who won’t be quiet or sit down, they are cute but drive me crazy.”
As our conversation wrapped up, she talked about her favorite memory from teaching.
“I love getting cards from students, they just make me happy.”
