Oliver- Class of 2019 “My least favorite part [of West Potomac] has probably been the little time we get in between classes. Sometimes I have to run to my classes. I don’t get in trouble a lot… Ms. Pendleton understands but still, I lose breath on my way…Run fast in the hallways to get to class on time.”

Hayley- Class of 2016 "I’m going to University of Colorado, Boulder. It’s surprising how many people are going to Colorado! It’s amazing and I hope that we all have so much fun. I want to take what I’ve learned at West Potomac and in my leadership class and I want to become a leader in some clubs I hope to join at Colorado, and not take part in any smoking. I wish we (the SGA) could get more diversity, and I think we’re trying to do that. Other than that, I think that everything is really great about the class and I really encourage people to take it, we do a lot for a school and it’s a nice take-away because you feel like you really have changed something about the school. I hope I have educated and encouraged people to take spirit days seriously– not seriously– but to have fun during spirit days. Wellness weeks I hope they take seriously because we take the school and the school’s population and what’s going on in the school, and we put it into account and we create these wellness weeks to impact them…Live on, be happy."

Maryam- Class of 2019 “We just started [Ukulele Club] this year, from what I know, and we went to Saint Aidan’s school and we played for the little kids over there and it was really nice. So so far we’ve started small but we’ve gotten a lot of people to join too. I’d never played the Ukulele before, I just played the guitar, and then my friend introduced me to the club and I got so into it. So people who have no experience are there, and people who are really experienced are there. I feel like I have a more diverse group (than in middle school). I feel like it’s really nice to have friends of every culture, race, religion. Something I would change about West Potomac… maybe just we need to update it a little bit. Other than that, not too much. When I’m frustrated with stuff I do seem to bash it a lot and I mean, to some extent it’s true, but not all of it. I feel like we tend to overexaggerate."

Kat- Class of 2017 "I know some people haven’t heard of what we (the theatre department) have done and I feel like they really should, because what we’re doing and have done in the past years has been really… great for inspiring confidence and perseverance. [Theatre’s purpose] is definitely to inspire, it’s not just to perform on stage; it’s to inspire the community and boost confidence. Through telling stories, people may believe in themselves more or get help in something that they didn’t think of before."

Chase (pictured right)- Class of 2017 "I came (to West Potomac) in my Junior year and everyone has already kind of formed their own groups so it’s kind of hard to join a group that’s already existing, whereas if I came in Freshman year it probably would have been easier. But well, it’s not super cliquey. For example, all the juniors in my AP English class– I haven’t gotten deep into the groups but they’ve been very friendly to me. I like it here better than my last school, that’s for sure. There weren’t very many kids to interact with, and I mean I knew a lot of people there but like, we didn’t hang out after school or anything. The whole getting into college and taking SATs thing, I find it pretty fun actually. It’s not as bad as people say. It’s like, if you don’t do well on the SAT just retake it again, you know. And the AP testing, everyone is freaking out about it but I just go in there and I mean, it’s not going to end my life or anything."
