West Potomac’s Girls Basketball Team won the Joe Cascio Holiday Tournament with a victory against the Potomac School team. The tournament championship game took place Friday, December 30, at Falls Church. West Potomac player Ty Taylor was proclaimed MVP of the match, finishing with 13 points.

“It’s very special, I just feel amazing. I’m speechless,” said Taylor. This is the first time West Potomac has made it to the championship match of this tournament, which we won this year with a 55-45 victory. We won 3 games in the tournament, defeating Eastern with a 57-23 score, then Washington-Lee at 42-24.”

Looking forward from their recent victory, West Potomac Girls’ Basketball players are optimistic for the future of the team.

“This really helps our momentum,” said senior player Grace Moery. “We’ve been going back and forth. We’d win a game, lose a game. Now that we’ve won three, I think we’re really going to start winning games in our conference.”

Since the tournament, the Girls Basketball team has won two games and lost one. The next game is away at Annandale, January 13 at seven. It’ll be a double-header with the Girls and Boys Basketball teams.
